FAITH. BELIEF. Sociology?!

Faith denotes "trust or confidence in a person or a thing", but if we will relate this to religion it simply means "belief in God". And for 16 years I have this concept that all people who don't believe to God don't belong to any religion. but just this tuesday afternoon, during our sociology class..

^_^(teacher): "Does religion evident to all cultures?"

*_*(bungisngis): "Not to all maam"

^_^: "No, it is evident to all"

*_*: "but maam, how do you account those atheist?!

^_^: "then?! How about the atheist?!"

*_*: "They don't believe in God"

^_^: "Ok, that's a good topic...is that your concept about religion?"

*_*: "Yes maam."

^_^: "ok, religion means belief noh?!..and if they have this solely belief on theirselves and they're not recognizing any supreme being...still they have their religion."

*_*: "How come?!"

^_^: "their religion is theirselves"

*_*: "langya!kelan pa naging religion ang mga sarili nila?!buang-buang siguro to si maam bah?! hahaha(sabi ko sa katabi ko)"..

But I think Maam has her point..because according to Durkheim, a sociologist, there are two division of religion the profane and the sacred.

PROFANE includes all that are not worthy of religious worship.
SACRED are those things that are knowable only through extraordinary experience.

But there is one thing that all religions have in common...it endorses a belief system..

Note: There is such word as religiosity...
